Finding Healthful Info

I have added websites to help find what a person’s calorie and fat intake should be daily as well as calculating Body Mass Index (BMI).   After watching “Super Size Me,” several students have inquired how much they should consume in a day.  Hopefully these sites will help.  There are some other sites I have bookmarked as well regarding the food pyramid and eating right.

Health Project

The Fast Food Health project is for grades 5-7.  Students will be in groups of their choosing with between 4-7 members in each group.  The groups will select one fast food establishment and compose a report on the two healthiest and two not so healthy meals from breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The groups should divide the tasks evenly.  Most of the leg work will be done outside of class, but I will give some class time to get together.  A poster or some visual aid should be incorporated and the project needs to be composed into one paper.  The project will be presented in each groups Health class during the week of November 3-7.

My First Blog

Welcome to my blog!  I am using this as a tool to help students with any questions they may have related to Health or PE.   If students need help in Health, this site is an informal way to ask.  Students can use this site to seek answers that might help with their Health projects or anything related to physical activity.  If you want answers to working out, eating right, or staying healthy in general, I will try to answer your questions.  If I don’t have the answer, I will steer you in the right direction to find your answer.  Don’t be afraid to write; nothing will go unanswered.
